EV Charging at Brightside: Plug In, Eat Well, Travel Happy
There’s a moment on any long journey in an electric vehicle when the maths starts to feel a bit anxious. How far to the next charger? Is it working? Is there anywhere decent to eat while you wait?
We’ve been thinking about that. Because a charge stop should feel like a proper break – not a scramble.
Brightside Honiton and Brightside Ram Jam both have EV charging points. Two chargers at each site. So while your car is doing its thing, you can do yours: sit in a proper booth, order what you actually fancy, and leave feeling like the journey is going well.
Where to find EV charging at Brightside
Brightside Honiton – A303, Devon
Brightside Honiton sits on the A303 in Devon – one of the main arteries for anyone heading towards Cornwall, the coast, or anywhere in the South West. It’s a natural pause point, and the chargers are right there in the car park.
A typical charging session gives you plenty of time to eat a proper breakfast, work through the brunch menu, or sit with a coffee and a slice of cake until you’re ready to go again.
Brightside Ram Jam – A1, Rutland
Brightside Ram Jam is on the A1 near Stretton in Rutland – a proper landmark stop for anyone travelling south from the North or Midlands. Two chargers, warm interiors, and a full menu waiting.
Where you can’t charge
We want to be straightforward about this. EV charging is not currently available at Brightside Exeter or Brightside Saltash. We’re working to bring charging to as many of our restaurants as possible, so watch this space. In the meantime, both sites are still very much worth stopping at – just not for your car.
What to eat while you charge
The menu at both Honiton and Ram Jam runs all day, from breakfast through to the evening. A few things worth knowing about:
The Brightside Breakfast is the big one – proper bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, beans, mushroom, roasted tomato, and toast. It’s the kind of thing that makes a journey feel like it’s going somewhere good.
Not in a fry-up mood? There’s fish and chips, sourdough pizza, brilliant burgers, a salad bowl if you need something lighter, and an extra thick milkshake if you just want something good. Vegan and gluten-free menus are proper menus, not afterthoughts. Bring the dog too – we’re dog-friendly at all our restaurants.
Plan your charge stop
Both Honiton and Ram Jam are bookable – though we always do our best to find a spot for walk-ins too. If you’re planning a longer journey and want to make sure you’ve got a table waiting when you pull in, booking ahead makes sense.
